Curiosity
Sage from the Latin word salus etymologically refers to health and for its medicinal virtue has always been linked to the symbol of longevity. The medieval doctors of the Salerno school defined it "salvatrix" for its renowned therapeutic qualities. Both the Egyptians first and later the master brewers of the Middle Ages used it as an ingredient in the preparation of beer. According to Greek mythology it was the hero who fell to discover the medicinal properties of this aromatic plant. Every year in his honour the sage leaves were donated during a religious ceremony.
